Thank you so much for the update Ralph. Last time I spoke to Vinnie was shortly before his current COVID issues. Hope to speak with him soon, and in better health.

Feb 2 Groundhog Day - another 6 weeks of winter? That little rodent could fool me... here in South Texas we're enjoying cool springlike weather ! The past few days have been high 70s and getting our huge raised garden prepared for planting the vegetables. We had 8 yards of garden soil delivered and hubby & son tractered it to backyard where I shoveled it in place. This city girl turned country over the years - love it!  We purchased a big Mueller Greenhouse for the backyard to replace the 2 smaller ones. A great place to overwinter nearly 3 dozen Plumerias, many other tropicals, and to house my new covid-hobby... growing a variety if succulents All of which survived Texas' mild winter.  We have a new "challenge" named Gizmo.  Gizmo is a Yorkie puppy who, unlike our previous rescued furbabies, is a digger. Now if only I can train him to dig holes where I want new plants planted - LOL - not likely.  Our 2 Pomeranian furbabies, Armani & Karl, will have to keep Gizmo in check!   SOOOO - how does your garden grow???? And WHAT???   Veggies? Flowers? Plants?  We're so happy to have a ginormous yard to tend to but sometimes we do miss the acreage and pool in Boerne.  Wishing you all a pleasant day wherever you are.  May God Bless You & yours with good health. Stay Safe!  SPECIAL NOTE TO OUR FELLOW CLASSMATE AND FRIEND, VINCENT ACOSTA AND HIS WIFE GAIL, BOTH HAVING THE DREADED COVID-19 VIRUS. OUR THOUGHTS & PRAYERS ARE WITH YOU BOTH.  MAY YOU BOTH RECOVER QUICKLY, BE HOME TOGETHER WHERE A LOVING COUPLE SHOULD BE TO ENJOY ONE ANOTHER,  YOUR NEW HOME, YOUR FURBABY ARCHIE, AND ALL YOUR FAMILY & FRIENDS WHO MISS YOU TERRIBLY.   TAKE CARE 'CUZ WE CARE!  TRUST IN THE LORD WITH ALL YOUR HEART....  HOPE, STRENGTH, LOVE, GRACE, PEACE, JOY, MERCY, FAITH, WISDOM, COURAGE.  GROUNDED IN FAITH & SHOWERED WITH BLESSINGS - ALL FROM GOD ABOVE.

Question #19......Just received a message from a fellow Viking who received their Covid Vaccine a few days ago and he is asking if it would be appropriate to ask fellow Viking if they received their Vaccine yet.   I dont see a problem with asking!  I would like to add where you received your Vaccine because it might help others to get vaccinated !!!

Linda Munoz (Brooks) (1965)

Recieved my injection Thurs, at a health care facility, thru a friend. My arm was sore, that's it! Just in case you don 't know this, but DO NOT take a pain reliever before geting your shot. It could loose it's potency. However, you can take a pain relierver after.  Never looked forward to a shot so much!

Received my first vaccine on February 3rd. I will get the 2nd vaccine on March 3rd. I'm in Texas and received it from Family Hospital Services in Williamson County. I was sore in the left arm for about 12 hours but no other adverse effects.

Barb & I both have had our 1st Pfizer shot (no side affects) & we are both scheduled to receive our 2nd shot on tuesday, February 9th at the Placer County Fairgrounds.  We belong to Kaiser,  but in our area (Lincoln, Ca) they have been short on receiving their requested distributions so they just started scheduling vaccinations for 75 yr olds!  Way behind, for sure.  Look forward to this getting behind us & celebrating our 55th wedding anniversary 👍.  Stay healthy & safe Vikings!!😷😷

This is to answer Question 19, which was asked by administrator Sue Ferreira (Nunes).  The question was, " I would like to add where you received your Vaccine because it might help others to get vaccinated !!!"

Here is my answer.  I will be receiving my vaccine at this place:  Concord Medical Center at 2540 East St., Concord, CA.   At the present moment, Concord Medical Center is vaccinating people who are 75 years old and older.  After these people are treated, Concord Medical Center will contact groups of people who are in a younger age bracket.  One minute ago, I received an email message from Concord Medical Center telling me that on February 15th, I will be given an appointment to receive the vaccine.  For the past year, I have always worn two masks, one over the other, when I am in a public area.  The inside mask is a flat flimsy paper mask.  The outside mask is a hard fiber mask that is contoured to have an area for inserting your nose.

I got my first Moderna on Jan 23 at Sonora Fairgrounds (community site).  I had a sore arm for the afternoon.  The next morning was all gone.  I am looking forward to #2 on Feb. 20 so I can get on with spring campouts.

On the question of the Covid-19 vaccine, here in Nevada, there is a shortage. I received a call from the V.A. last week, asking me if I wanted the shot. I said yes and am getting it on Feb.10th at the V.A. hospital. I am a veteran of the Vietnam war and assume that is why I qualified. Who knows how much longer we have to wait in las Vegas to get the shot?! There is a shortage of the vaccine.

Regarding vaccinations, Dennis and I got ours Feb. 4th at Shasta County Health Services. We are scheduled for our second one March 4th.  We received Moderna with side effects. Sure hopes this curtails the transmission of covid.  The thing I miss most is being able to go out to dinner.  Be safe everyone, I think there is a light at the end of this tunnel.

We received our first Moderna shot on 1/14 where we live.  We live in a CCRC (Continuing Care Retirement Community) which has Independent Living (where we live), Assisted Living, Skilled Nursing & Memory Care. Our arms were sore for the first 24 hours & we were very tired the next day.  We'll receive our second shot on 2/11.

I got my first Pfizer vaccine yesterday morning .  Other than a sore area of injection, there's no other side effects.  I got my shot at the Sutter Immune Center in Roseville Ca.   The Sutter health group is actively immunizing older patients 65 and above and all you have to do is make an appointment through their app

Jane Turner (Caffey) (1971)

Got my 1st Pfizer vaccine last Wed. Feb. 3 through the Contra Costa Co. Health Dept. since I was getting nowhere with my regular healthcare system. No after effects other than a sore arm for 2 days. The whole process was well organized & pretty seamless with a “Disneyland line” & multiple check points, but it moved quickly. I go back Feb. 24 for #2.  Never thought I'd be excited to get a shot!

For those of you still waiting, sign up on multiple sites & check them several times a day. Seems like they open up appointments when they find out about vaccine shipments. I hope everyone gets theirs soon! Stay safe & be well, Vikings!

Hi Everyone,

Alameda County is doing a lousy job of getting the vacine out to everyone.

In Home Support Care Workers, IHSS, are on the frontline and suppose to be getting their shots, only no one knows where .  IHSS, Public Athority says call the County, call, go to the website...IHSS Union does not know.

Kaiser doesn't know, when, where or who except the CEO sent a letter saying they were short getting vaccine.  Myself and 3 workers are Kaiser members and over 65 but get no answers.   SOOOOOO

One worker got her shot in Brentwood because her dr was so mad and worried about her general health she gave her the shot!  No line, no appt, no waiting.  She said no problem with pain or anything.

We finally found a waitlist with the Hayward Fire Dept Clinic on Tennyson (Mederma) and we are staying safe. And it is working!  The Gov is on TV again and so thankful for the leaders in San Diego.  Oh well.

Faith will keep us going and working together.  I like that nighty night combo working for sleep, the movies reminded me of so many I had forgotten.

It's great to hear updates about Vincent and his wife.

A nurse friend of mine said it was okay to take a pain relief before the shot...maybe some one has some more info about yes or no.  I haven't heard the pain being so bad anyway so didn't plan to take anything new.  I take 1 for chronic pain will that be a problem?

Hey I just found out, through my DNA, I am really related to a Viking, ROLO.  Wow I don't feel any prouder, but I love the history.

Be well, safe, and enjoy the sunshine, start planting those Spring bulbs (unless you have 1 of my gopher's friends then use pots or boxes.  My tomatoes from last year are still producing, just not as sweet.  Marigold are a good addition to a garden for color and bee polination!

Waiting to get the vaccine is absolutely frustrating.  My husband, who is 77 has an appt to get his first dose through Kaiser this week.  I will probably be waiting a while given my young age (68).  Another resource to check is www.vaccinateca.com.   Put in your zip and it will give you a list of locations that have the vaccines.  Hope this helps.  Stay well Vikings!

Got my first Covid shot today at the Manhattan VA Hospital. Disorganized, per SOP at the VA, but got to hang out with old friends too so it was worth the drive!

I just posted this "In Memory":

Vince Acosta passed away last night February 12, 2021. Vince had been in the hospital with Covid19 for over a month.  Unfortunetly his Kidneys and Liver failed him.  Vinnie has been someone I could always count on if I screwed up anything on our Pacific High Site.  He would call immediately after I post something and tell me what I did wrong.  I will miss his phone calls, His generosity, His knowledge and His most of all His Friendship.

Rest in Peace My Friend

Sue
