Peggy Wood (Guernsey) (1968)

Hi and good morning Everyone,

I am looking for or contact for Linda Babbino, class 69.  Want to say hi and see how she is.

Just thinking after seeing the County Music on channel 9 and all our county was going through in the mid sixties!!!   I encourage all of you to see the current issue, last night Sept22.   Women's Rights and Civil Rights. Protests, Sit ins, Stand ins, shooting of Martin Luther King Jr and Bobby Kennedy, President Johnson signs freedon to choose to serve over draft, the boys of Pacific joined up, served, were killed,     and our lives went on and on.

We, were so blessed then to live in San Leandro, CA    We were protected from so much and grew to give so much.  I am so sorry I did not watch our Track Team run, jump and have fun, or the swimmers and where they went on to do.  I so agree with starting either a Hall of Fame or Remerance of those guys.     OH and GEE didn't we start to have Girls in Athletics!!! ???????       I'm also an alumni of Chabot College and California State University Hayward and I didn't go to many sports activities then either, even the go back to college to finish my BA and Masters!!!

Why is it...we need to be busy with the now and just not the PRo stuff.    Go to those kids, grandkids, friends kids and have fun.

Chabot is getting together Alumni activities that don't cost $250 per table !!!!    Come on and join or get us out to do together things.  Please see history thru the County Music series WOW

Vikings go on and on, Bless you all,

Peggy Wood Guernsey

Sue Ferreira (Nunes) (1967)

I asked Jackie Newman DeCesari if I could share the status of Tonys Surgery and she said Yes.  She will be thanking everyone personally that sent donations to her family soon.

While trying to tell everyone whats going on it was way to much for me  soooooooooo  I decided to share with you some of her Facebook notes:

9-24
Jacqueline DeCesari And another Kaiser we visited. Tony had a pick-line put in arm, getting ready for his big operation tomorrow. We have to be at Kaiser Morse at 5 a.m. ( can you believe that) his operation starts at 7:30 and it will take about 7 hours.

9-25Jacqueline DeCesari  The doctors had a glitch. It’s upsetting but we have to put all our faith in their hands and skills. They weren’t able to get any feelings in his legs. They aren’t positive if it’s an error in the machine, or how he’s positioned and the machine can’t pick up his nerve endings in his legs or what. You have to have faith. We wait that’s all.

9-25Jacqueline DeCesari  At 3:30 Still a long was to go. We just got word from the OR we’re still looking at another 4-6 hours in surgery

9-26Jacqueline DeCesari  Gino and I are home now. Tony looks good, he was joking and lit with pain meds. They were sending him down again for another MRI after we left. His Love was keeping him company tonight. We'll all take shifts to keep him company. It was touch and go. We were scared but we put our faith in his doctors. I don't know how his surgeon does it. Non-stop with Tony from 7:30 a.m. this morning and he left tonight at 11:45 driving back to Vacaville for more surgeries tomorrow. These guys are heros in our book. It's been a long day so it's lights out. Thank You All again for your prayers.🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

9-28Jacqueline DeCesari no pain in his head, back, or butt! His eyes are still looking down even though he’s trying to look straight ahead. Dr said once swelling goes down they should go back to normal. He does have neck pain still

9-28Jacqueline DeCesari  I'm home trying to catch up around the house while Gino is at the hospital. Gino called me this morning to tell me Tony's having problems with his legs but he is feeling them. His back and neck hurt and he's very groggy. I won't be able to know more until later today. They had to go into the back of his head and split his brain in two to get to the tumor. They do this operation while the patient is sitting and leaning over like you would if you were getting a back massage in a chair. They will be sending him down this morning to do a MRI. I'm not sure if one was done last night after we left or not. We just wait and see day by day. We are so thankful for your prayers and support.

9-28Jacqueline DeCesari  What a difference 1 day makes. Yesterday Tony wouldn’t eat, wouldn’t wake up , he was in severe pain but by late yesterday night Gino and the nurses got him to stand, Amanda got him eating and Today he’s pretty chipper. His feet are still numb but he’s improving fast.

9-30Jacqueline DeCesari  Tony got his head bandage off yesterday. His brain is still swollen so that makes his eyes bug out and even though he's looking at you, his eyes are looking down. He's still unable to walk but he can stand and has made small sidesteps near his bed. His pain is manageable. His appetite is like a BEAR because of the steroids in his meds. Sometime today or tomorrow he will know where he's being sent for rehab. The doctor wants to send him to this great center but he would be too far for us to visit. I miss him so much at home. The month of September is gone and all I can remember is going back and forth to hospitals, sitting waiting, worrying, and getting stressed out driving. The good news, we still have our son so that we are thankful for. We are thankful for so much. The one thing I'm looking forward to is a sit down meal at home at the table with him and family.

9-30Jacqueline DeCesari  While I was at the hospital the staff came in to ask me some questions to see if we qualify for Vallejo Kaiser rehab. and it looks like as soon as they have a bed open over there, they will call and have Tony moved and on his way, it could be as soon as tomorrow. He'll have three hours of intense therapy each day. I think we're looking at a 10-day stay, not 100 percent sure yet. He's excited to get this show on the road.

10-3Jacqueline DeCesari He had elevated white blood cells. They ran tests this morning looking for infection or other causes. He just called me from the hospital, all the test they did this morning while I was there came back fine. They said most likely it is the medication he's on that spikes it but they had to be 100 percent sure. All is good and he's back on the waiting list.

10-4Jacqueline DeCesari   We’ve got the orders to ship out and head to Rehab in Vallejo around 12:30. Yes!!

Tony still has a long way to go, Rehab for at least the next 10 days plus chemo later..

Sending prayers for Tony and his entire family.   Sue

Hi everyone! When I read the posts, I am so impressed with the alumni!  I didn’t get involved in much during my high school days unfortunately.  I wish now that I had, as it would have allowed me to get to know some of you personally.  I was engaged during my senior year and got married 14 days after graduation!  Kinda moved forward and didn’t look back.  Now in my senior years, I have 2 sons and three grandsons that keep me busy.  Anyway, just wanted to send a shout out and let you know that I find myself lucky to have sat in class with some of you and walked the same halls.  God bless you all!

Thank You Marla Fry Evans (1974), Sharon Whalen Talso (1967), Gary Sheldon (1963) and Bruce Williams (1963) for your donation to help Jackie DeCesari son Tony. Your gift cards and cash  will be so helpful to them.  Tony is just starting Radiation and they are having big problems and again spending hours and hours in the hospital.

This is one of the notes on facebook about Tonys problems with Radiation

His head has to be screwed down to a table with a mask, like some medieval torture. His arms , legs are strapped down and he is not allowed to even, twitch. They say they got the measurements ready to go for tomorrow.

Unfortunetly it didnt work and they are going to try again on Monday Morning. Prayers are needed for the enitre Family.

UPDATE>>>>>>>>>  Friday Dec. 13th   One week of Radiation Done !!!

Happy New Year Sue! I want to thank you and the alumni for the gift cards. My son Tony will have his last radiation on his spine this Friday, then 10 more sessions on his brain. We are almost at the end.of this trying journey. He is now walking with just his cane, he still has braces on his legs but he's doing great. His eyes are almost adjusted back to normal. The brain tumor grew and put pressure on the backs of his eyes which made them point in different directions. The radiation made his hair fall out but in a few short months, it should be growing back again. He's on a lot of medication so once he gets cleared, weaning him off could take some time. My husband and I are grateful and Thank God he's made a comeback. He is excited to get back on the water for trout fishing again. The boy loves his fishing with catch and release in his souped-up kayak. Thank You Again for the prayers and help. Happy New Year!

Greetings Fellow Vikings:

I just wanted to let you know about some changes in my life. My wife Diane died five years ago, and two years ago I married an Iraqi woman, Nital. It was a whirl wind romance, but when you're 62 you know more than you did at 21. Like me she has three adult children, although she didn't become a grandma until after we married. Her two grandkids are under two years old, my four range from 5 to 18. We're all located in the San Diego area.

The most recent news, my book is now available on Amazon. The Galilee Episode: Two Men in One Bed, Two Women Grinding describes how Jesus mentioned two same-sex couples in Luke 17:34-35 (KJV) and what it means.

It is definitely weird that my high school was bull-dozed. You have to ask, "What were they thinking?"

Take care.

Ron Goetz, Class of 1973

This is to respond to today's post about the virus by Mr. V. A. (Class of 1967).  As anybody can see from the social media, this is a big deal.  And so, as a result, I periodically use bleach-soaked towelettes for cleaning the outside handle and inside handle of the front door knob of my lhouse.  Also, I use bleach-soaked towelettes to clean the door handle and steering wheel of my automobile.  Additionally, I use bleach-soaked towelettes for cleaning the entire outside of any cans (e.g., canned corn, canned tuna) and the entire outside of any cardboard packages (e.g., 12 packs of Modelo beer) that I get from the grocery.  - - -Tom Brody (April 1, 2020).
