Vincent Acosta - Class Of 1967

Vincent Acosta

Vince Acosta passed away last night February 12, 2021. Vince had been in the hospital with Covid19 for over a month.  Unfortunetly his Kidneys and Liver failed him.  Vinnie has been someone I could always count on if I screwed up anything on our Pacific High Site.  He would call immediately after I post something and tell me what I did wrong.  I will miss his phone calls, His generosity, His knowledge and His most of all His Friendship.

Rest in Peace My Friend

Sue

Obituary in the Las Vegas Review/Journel :

VINNY ACOSTA As the 10th child, Vinny had to learn to eat fast, there are only 8 pieces of chicken. He was born and raised in the Oakland Bay area. Vinny learned to box at the Boys Club and that is where his love for the sport developed. As he grew and went to school, he always knew he wanted to go into the Army. After graduation Vinny decided to be drafted rather than enlist. He liked his time in the service and made many special friends. After the service Vinny bounded around from many jobs. He then went to school and became a well-respected medical assistant. It was during that time that he reconnected with his love for boxing. Vinny became a cutman and perfected his craft. He knew and worked with many respected champions. Vinny is survived by his wife of 35 years; son, Andre; and stepson Phil of Colorado. Vinny will be missed for his humor and his big heart.

I just spoke with Gail last week to see how she and Vince were doing, and found out that Gail was in remission with her cancer and recovering well from her bout with Covid.  My deepest sympathies are with Gail and the family.  I was hoping to speak with Vinny again, but it wasn't possible as he was not doing well, he will be missed.  Vinny and I would talk several times a year over the past 25 years, after reconnecting.  He was such a joy to speak with and sometimes we talked for hours, even Vinny and my husband Ben would talk and they got to know about each other...  I will miss Vinny and our talks and how he would make me laugh!  Rest in peace my Friend, I will think of you often!!! Carol

It is with my deepest heartfelt sorrow to learn of the passing of my friend Vincent. Although I knew of some medical issues he suffered, it still came as quite a shock to come to the realization Vinny truly transitioned to the other side. Our dear friend and fellow classmate gained his Angel wings and now watches over us all - his wife Gail, the twins, and all his family and friends.  Vincent my friend, I'm a true believer so I know you seen & visited with my folks in God's heavenly kingdom just as you used to visit them at their SL home when dad was splitting wood in his yard when you'd go by. I rejoice & take comfort knowing you're able to carry on & make your your rounds to visit those who went before you. I'll miss you Vinny; our chats & messages I'll treasure til we meet again on the other side. I'll miss you Vincent Acosta!
Last but certainly not least.... A very special thank you for your Service Sir.
