I've been married to my wonderful wife Mary Ann for 41 years. We met while I was working for the City of Simi Valley. I have two delightful children, Jamie and Sara (who, at 39 and 35, aren't children anymore!). After 14 years with the City of Simi Valley (10 as finance officer), we moved to San Luis Obispo in 1988, where I was the City's Finance & Information Technology Director for 22 years until my retirement in May 2010. (Who knew all that math stuff was in my future?)

I've now entered the third act of my career, which includes consulting, training and co-authoring a book on municipal finance, which was published in July 2012: "Guide to Local Government Finance in California" (www.solano.com).
