One of the most active seniors during her three years at Pacific was Gayle Archer. As a senior, Gayle was a senior section and opening section editor of the 1966 Valhalla, and Chairman of the Senior Ball. She served as Welfare Chairman of PSB and class treasurer for two years. She was a member of the Spirit Society, Future Teachers of America and the Honors Program; and she played in the Pacific stage band and the orchestra. In the future she plans to attend the College of Holy Names, and then serve in the Peace Corps. Eventually she hopes to teach music and English at the high school or college level.

I WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER THAT BEAUTIFUL SMILE AND THAT FANTASTIC LAUGH OF GAYLE'S.  ALWAYS WARM ALWAYS HUMAN ALWAYS REAL ALWAYS A JOY TO BE AROUND, HUMBLE, UNASSUMING, ALWAYS DOING THE MOST EXCELLENT BEST AND GIVING ALL THE LOVE SHE COULD GIVE.  THAT SOMEONE AS EXCEPTIONAL AND ALIVE AS GAYLE COULD HAVE PASSED MAKES ME MORE WILLING TO ACCEPT MY OWN PASSING PEACEFULLY.  MARINA GARCIA GELPE

I didn't know Gayle in high school but met her a few years later through a mutual good friend, Tom Smith.

Gayle had a social conscience and intellect which spoke to the not-so-subtle difference between the political climate of 1964 and that for her class of 1966. By 1968 when I met her I was still trying to figure out my role in Vietnam while Gayle was insisting that figuring out our role in the world was the real key. She was a very, very special person.
