Perry was a year older than me and was a very big guy, a standout footballer, who drove a funny looking purple and white dodge, i think it was.  I don't know how it was we found ourselves together but he used to give me a ride home from school every day and we hung out a lot.  I guess we were boyfriend and girlfriend.  Because of his size and reputation on the football field, he always kind of intimidated me, but he was a true southern gentleman and always treated me with great respect.  I never knew what happened to him after graduation, but I came across a medical report dictation while a transcriptionist at San Leandro Hospital.  Basically, he was out playing a round of golf with his friends when they noticed he was not with them.  When they looked back, he was lying on the ground and had apparently died instantly of a heart attack.  Like so many of our fellow Vikings, Perry was far too young to be shuffling off to Valhalla.  I remember playing cards with Perry and his friend James Geiser while James was hospitalized.  I will always keep Perry in my memory and my heart.  He was one of the good guys.

Thanks for posting in memory of for Perry.  What a special, kind and happy guy he always was.  I had no idea he had passed.  Pretty much lost contact with him after graduation in 1963, after going together for over 2 years.

I talked to him a few years later and he was very happy with two children and another on the way.  He loved playing golf with his dad during the teen years.  So glad he was with his friends doing one of the things he liked best.

I will alway remember the special times and am glad he had a happy life.

Perry and I became friends after graduation. We used to fish and play cards. For a big guy he loved his Corvair. The fondest memory I have of Perry was when we were fishing with our wives at Lake Tuleck. Perry hooked a big bass and just when he was about to land it it got off. Perry quiped."oh no it got away". I jumped in the lake and flipped it on shore. We all ate fish that night. Perry was the best.
