I am sad to learn of Steve's passing.  I remember Steve was new to the area and school.  He was quite a character at football practice and enjoyed having fun.  Oscar Wilde said imitation is the sincerest form of flattery...and there were many of us, his teammates, who did indeed imitate him and his style.  Steve would wear a second pair of socks with his football cleats.  The outer socks were well worn and without elastic to hold them up.  Steve would pull the second pair of socks down and they would cover both the laces and the heel of his cleats.  It was his thing and many of us followed suit.  I guess we thought it was cool.  I have no idea why such a trivial thing would stick in my head about Steve, but there it is.  I knew Steve from football, but otherwise not so well.  However, I do know that he was one to offer me support and encouragement when I needed it.  May God bless and keep him.
