This was written by Rick Vargas who asked me to post it in memory of Lyle.. Thank you Rick for a wonderful tribute to Lyle..

Tribute to a friend....
I knew Lyle for over thirty years. Through the years we often discussed the different times of our youth. Lyle being a Viking, myself a Pirate, from the "other side of the tracks". He spoke of great pride of his friends, coach's and team mates from Pacific High. Many of which have fond memories as I do. Although he was short in stature he competed in athletics and in life, as a much bigger person, he was a tough competitor, on the ball field, on the golf course, at the bowling alley, on the tennis courts or at the card table.
My family relocated out of the San Leandro/Hayward area 12yrs ago but that did not affect our friendship, by phone, his weekend visits and our time spent together only confirmed his friendship and love for my family for which I am deeply indebted.

Lyle left behind two great kids Alicia and John that he instilled the essence of life to, faith in God , family and friends. All that knew him lost a "true friend". Although I have great memories, I will miss his smile, his laugh and his jokes (not all of them funny!) But most of all I will miss his friendship, "MY BEST FRIEND"
It has been over seven years since Lyle's passing,he is missed and thought of often ,we go to pay our respects when we get to the bay area...Although my conversations are of the one way method, that does not stop me from having a talk with my buddy
