David Brooks died in a motorcycle accident, just after greaduation, or sometime close to that. I was told he was on the back of the motorcycle with someone else driving and they were both killed.   I knew got to know David in our P.E. classes.  My last name is Brookens and his being Brooks, we were always lined up in alphibetical order next to each other since John Muir Jr. High.  David was a good guy, honest and strait forward.  It was very sad to hear that he died.

That story is only part correct. I was there that day and called the police when I saw that accident happen. David was the driver and was not killed. Dale Reese was on the back and died before help got there.

I just found this post, and I see that the information that I got about this was not totally accurate.

Thanks for the correction.

So, David was driving and Dale Reese was on the back.  I take it that David died later in the hospital, and as you said, Dale died quickly. That's very sad.

I don't think I knew Dale Reese, but I think Sandy Reese had a younger brother, and I knew Sandy.  Do you know if Dale was Sandy's brother?

Yes, Dale Reese was Sandy Reese's younger brother. Sandy is my ex-sister-in-law of long ago. As I remember Sandy telling the story, it was David's dad's new motorcycle. His dad was away so David thought he'd take a spin. David picked up his friend Dale who rode on the back. They hit a truck and Dale was pronounced dead at the scene. David died later at the hospital.
