I was in the Bay Area this last week and had cause to speak with Ed Urquides who is a retired principal from San Leandro High and brother of our Viking classmate Frank Urqiudes class of 66. He sadly informed me off Franks passing late on August 14 or early the 15th. He had broken a foot pretty badly and contracted an infection that he could not recover from. He retired as a teacher from the Tuscon, Arizona area and moved up to Pinetop, Arizona where he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He is survived by a son and daughter and his older brother Ed. Rest in peace my good friend.

I remember how jazzed Frank was to attend the 15 year reunion.  Never did get a chance to talk to him and I infrequently got to the Tucson/Phoenix area.  Extremely sorry to hear this.

Frank was a close friend in high school.  He always had a smile and a positive attitude, which made him a great friend if you had the opportunity to know him.  We used to tease each other about our Spanish heritage, although he claimed to be Basque which won't consider themselves Spanish.  When we would see each other, we would call out our Spanish names, so he was Francisco and I was Rafael.

When you lose someone that was an important part of your high school life, it reminds me of the closeness that our student body had during that period of our lives.  Rest in peace mi amigo.

I remember Frank well and with a smile.  He was so genuinely approachable and was so kind.  His smile and laughter would envelp you.  It felt good just to be around him.  I am deeply saddened to hear of his passing.  Our class was so close, and at each reunion it seemed time had not passed; we could pick up where we left off to find out what had been happening in our lives, yet we were still the same close knit group of folks we were in school.  We genuinely care about one another.  I appreciate all of you and remember you fondly.  Some of you I have been able to see on a semi regular basis and I am grateful for that.  For those I don't get to see, know that you are still in my memories of one of the best times of our lives!

As Mike, Ralph & Jaci have noted, I too remember Frank for his happy and friendly personality. He seemed to always be positive and upbeat with his attitude. My condolences to his family and friends. Class of '66 is still a special group....

I remember Frank in my Spanish class at John Muir.  He was crazy in a good way   I went to summer with him  at San Leandro High.  His brother tell him to go summer school that day but would give me his books and say he was going to do something else and have fun.     Frank will join are other departed classmates in are Pacific High School in the sky or haven.     Frank will be missed.        Mike.
