We went to grammer school together, Eleanor was a very sweet young girl I often think of her, how sad of her passing so young. I'll always remember her with love Rest in pease my friend.

I met Eleanor in the 5th grade at Woodrow Wilson elementary school.  We were in the same grade and attended John Muir and Pacific (class of 1966) together.  She was kind, gentle and the sweetest person you could ever imagine. She had a perpetual smile-she smiled all the time. Eleanor had beautiful, long red hair and many beautiful facial freckles.  She never bothered a soul-that was not her nature.  Eleanor was mercilessly  teased about her appearance for many years.  I often wonder if that led to her early death after graduation.  I truly hope not.

charles i think that was the reason she made that massive mistake. i knew her brother and parents. i don't want to talk about the method. if she could have held out a little longer life could have changed for her. kids were so mean to this wonderful girl. i lost a brother earlier that year that made the same mistake. i really call it a mistake. life can change by just giving it a little more time. my brothers death was the toughest death i ever dealt with. so i really felt the pain her family felt. GOD BLESS HER

We lived about 6 houses from the Sloans.  My mom told me how the father didn't make much money and was strict and controlling.  They had no car or phone and the mother took in ironing to make some money.  My mom had to take the ironing over after he left for work and pick it up before he got home.  The father was strictest on his son Eddie.  Eleanor tried to escape it all by taking classes to become a nurse.  But it was too difficult for her.  A few years later, my mom was manning a suicide hotline and realized she was talking to the younger sister Kathy, who found her sister dying in the kitchen and wondered if that was also going to be her fate.  Mom stories end there.

I doubt that anything happening in school contributed to her despair.

I've often thought about Eleanor over the years. What a tragic painful death she suffered after a similar short life. We can all take comfort knowing that this red-headed angel has been safe in the arms of Jesus and reunited with fellow Viking classmates. Jesus loves the little children - all the the children of the world.... yes, the troubled freckled face girl with the long red hair left her earthly home way too soon but lives in God's Kingdom forevermore. Sympathy to her family & friends.
