"In Memoriam, Daniel Allen Hurst (August 1954 to September 1995). Daniel (aka Danny to most) was a 1972 PHS Alumni and enlisted into the Army soon after graduation. He served as an Infantryman assigned to the 3d Armored Division in Kirch-Göns, Germany from 1972 until 1976. Daniel returned home to the United States and lived near our parents in Illinois. He was employed as a Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Counselor at Silver Cross Hospital in Joliet, IL. Daniel was an accomplished dancer. He joined a dance company in Chicago for a period of time. Some of you may recall "Danny" emerging from a helicopter as the Viking Mascot at the '71 San Leandro v. Pacific football game after we marched across town. Daniel was voted "Most Spirited" and in a yearbook photo sitting atop the entrance of PHS. Daniel was also celebrated as a lead dancer with Miss Teri Crosby at the San Leandro Centennial-BiCentennial celebration of Cherries Jubilee. Daniel never married but was an extremely proud uncle."

I am very sad to read about Danny Hurst. His parents were friends of my parents and he was the first boy that I kissed. We were around 3 yrs old and my parents had taken a picture of us kissing with the moonlight in the background.Even though it has been sometime since his passing my heart is with Danny and his family.

I was heartbroken to learn Danny had passed away. He lived next door to my grandparents and around the corner from me. We were very close in junior high and beginning high school. His happy go lucky spirit will be missed. Blessed be and you will always be in out hearts
