A Henderson man is in custody after allegedly shooting his wife to death Sunday afternoon.

According to Henderson Police, a 64-year-old man shot his wife in their home and then called 9-1-1 confessing to the crime while waiting for arriving officers.

The Clark County Coroner's Office identified the victim as 61-year-old Paulette King of Henderson. The Coroner determined her official cause of death to be a gunshot wound to the head.

Police say Dennis Kopp was taken into custody without incident around 4:45 p.m. Sunday outside of his home in the 1700 block of Sequoia Drive between Arroyo Grande and Valle Verde, near Warm Springs.

Arriving first responders found a woman inside the home with a gunshot wound. She was taken to Sunrise Hospital for treatment but died from her wounds around 5:30 p.m. Sunday.

Kopp called 9-1-1 saying he had just shot his wife inside their home, then remained on the phone with dispatchers until officers arrived at the house. The woman was found inside a spare bedroom with a gunshot wound. The handgun believed to be used in the shooting was found inside the home.

Kopp was booked into the Henderson Detention Center on murder charges. The shooting is still being investigated.

The is the sixth murder in Henderson in 2016.
