Joseph Ferreira - Class Of 1966

Joseph Ferreira

A message from Linda Ferreira

 ·

It is with great sadness that I share the passing of my brother Joe Ferreira. PHS Class of 1966. If you knew Joe you were fortunate to have known a giving, stand up, guy who was a true friend. Joe attended James Madison, John Muir and PHS. We lived in Bonaire.

Joe served 4 years in the Navy during the Viet Nam war and was a wounded and decorated Vet who refused his benefits because he always believed there were other vets who had it worse than him, and needed help more. That was the kind of man he was. Joe retired from a career as an Alameda County Fire Fighter. Joe had 3 wives (Di Ann, Sany and Ellen) and 4 kids (Yvonne, Michelle, Brian and Andrea) He is survived by his wife Ellen of 20 years and he was very loved and happy. Joe, LOVED to dance, listen to music, and knew how to have fun.

Joe's LIFE was dedicated to service. As the oldest of 4 he took care of Ed, Cindy and me while both our parents worked. He was always there to help a friend, lend a hand, and serve his country and community. He gave of himself and worked hard at being a GOOD and DECENT man. He was my brother. He was my hero, he was one of my best friends and I will miss him. A celebration of Joe's life will be held later this year and I will post details when I have them

Joe and I were in the same class from Madison to PHS.  He was a great guy, a joy to be around.  I wish now that I had stayed in touch with him through the years.  Lesson learned.  RIP Joe.

Very sorry to hear this. I always admired Joe. He always was a kind and sweet guy. I only saw him two times since school and that was at 2 reunions He always had conversations with me there. I'm sure he was a hero to his family and friends. Sorry for your loss. RIP Joe....

Joe was one of the "good guys". I, like all the people who had the pleasure of knowing Joe? We all knew he was an incredible person and man. I worked for the City of San Leandro and would occasionally run into Mr. Ferreira, we hugged, asked about our families, and how we were. I am so proud to say that I was a friend of Joseph Ferreira. Joe, you will be missed. Danny Paiva, class of 66
