Resident of Castro Valley
Sandra Ann Ornellas, age 69, passed away peacefully on November 22, 2018 after battling cancer. She was born on August 1, 1949 in Oakland, CA. to Daniel P. and Dorothy M. Ornellas. She loved all people and was a most kind and extremely generous person, always putting others happiness ahead of her own. Sandi began her working career at Sear's in Hayward, CA in 1968 as a part time associate in the catalogue department while attending Chabot College and Cal State University Hayward. She began her career with the County of Alameda in the Count Councils office in 1975. Sandi held many positions with the County including positions in the Assessor's Office, Fairmont Hospital, Personnel and Public Works until she retired in 2011.
Sandi was an only child but is survived by so very many people who loved her deaerly: Her Aunt and Uncle, Marie and Joe Avila of Pleasanton, her cousins Carol Campos of Castro Valley, Mike Avila of Reno, NV., Mark Avila of San Leandro, nephews Michael Thomsen of San Francisco, Brian Thomsen of Hayward, God children Courtney Bellefeuille of Montecello, Minn., Jeff Bellefeuille of Clarksville, LA., and dearest friends, Lupe Serano of Hayward, Michael Bellefeuille of Hayward, Jan Bellefeuille of Maple Grove, Minn., Linda Stoicich of Chico, Tina Thomsen of Castro Valley, Sharon Takahashi of Pleasanton, Marjy Smith of Oakland, Jim Peck of Fremont and Gary Thomsen of Fremont in addition to so many more friends it would take pages to name them all.
In earlier times Sandi enjoyed vacationing in Lake Tahoe, San Diego, and had been on several cruises to various destinations including the Caribbean and Alaska. Recently she enjoyed going out to lunches and dinners with friends and family and especially enjoyed Horatio's in San Leandro and Pappion in Fremont. Even more than eating she enjoyed giving so much to charities, friends, and family.
Sandi has requested there be no service of any kind but only to remember her as she was: A most loving, kind, caring and generous person. Donations would be welcome in Sandi's name to any charity of your choosing as Sandi loved all charities and donated to several on a regular basis.
Rest in Peace, our Angel.
